My Lady and I road tripped to Aspen CO today. We went through independence pass which tops out 12,095 ft with some impressive views. On the way down we found possibly one of the best picnic spots in Colorado called "Grottos", highly recommend you stop and check this area out before entering Aspen. Once in Aspen we found parking can be a nightmare on weekdays, it is essentially a pay to park town. However, on the weekends the parking restrictions are not so intimidating, recommend bringing a bike to enjoy the town. We asked the locals while checking out the store the best place to pick up a bite to eat, Finbarr's Irish Pub seem to be the most consistent recommendation. They had a patio outside which was wonderful, the pub itself was extremely well done.
